It's got the phrase "hair plugs" in it, okay? That should be enough.

I didn't want to get mired in endless filmed interviews so we covered the interviews briefly on film, then in-depth on audio tape. This freed us to go after the textures of the location: details of bicycle parts manufacturing, the mother of the president of the company.

We needed to make a potrait of the company, but didn't want to be tied down to filming inside their offices. Putting title cards into the employees' hands got the camera out into the world and gives the video energy. It also maintains an element of surprise.

I wanted to shoot the employees of Advanced Micro Devices with unexpected props. It's a left-handed way of connecting people to things, ideas, and other people. I guess the underlying idea was to make the company look cool, modern, and a little mysterious. I'm also proud of the tag line, "Devices for Advanced People." Just don't ask me to explain it.

Life and the internet. This video is simultaneously energetic and thoughtful, which is kind of tricky to sustain. We shot many scenes off-speed and framed unusually, then used type to "talk" to the audience. I like the paces this video goes through.

For the product launch of MSN 8, we encapsulated the history of the computer. It's interesting to see all those high-tech milestones compiled into a single timeline.

The hook here is simple: when text is popped on, the action freezes. It's a straightforward idea, but there's something fascinating about watching people stop dead, then suddenly spring back to life.

Once upon a time, in the latter part of the 20th century, I directed several music videos including one for a band known as Huey Lewis and the News. "I Want A New Drug" made it to number one on MTV and I was even nominated Best Director in the Video Music Awards. Then, one night during the early years of the 21st century, while my kids and I were peacefully watching an episode of The Simpsons, the show unexpectedly veered into this parody of my original video. Glad I was sitting on the couch or I would have fallen over.
